Veterans of Foreign Wars Mission

That the purpose of this Corporation shall be fraternal, patriotic, historical, charitable, and educational: to preserve and strengthen comradeship among its members; to assist worthy comrades; to perpetuate the memory and history of our dead; and to assist their widows and orphans; to maintain true allegiance to the Government of the United States of America, and fidelity to its Constitution and laws; to foster true patriotism; to maintain and extend the institutions of American freedom, and to preserve and defend the United States from all her enemies.
 
 

VFW Post 5456 Mission

Our mission is to support veterans, service members, and their families while strengthening our community through service, remembrance, youth programs, and fellowship.


We provide opportunities for connection, support, and camaraderie through initiatives such as our Morale, Welfare & Recreation Center and gaming room, while honoring the sacrifices of those who served and investing in the next generation of leaders.

What We Do

 Support Veterans and Their Families

We maintain a Morale, Welfare & Recreation Center and gaming room that provides a welcoming place for veterans, their families, and supporters to connect, relax, and build community.

  

Support Active-Duty Service Members
We proudly support our adopted unit, HHB 1st Battalion, 214th Field Artillery, ensuring those currently serving know their community stands behind them.

  

Honor Those Who Served
We organize and participate in community observances for Memorial Day, September 11th, and Veterans Day to remember the sacrifices made for our nation.

  

Invest in Youth and Education
We support the next generation through scholarships, the Voice of Democracy and Patriot’s Pen programs, and financial support for JROTC cadets and military families.

  

Serve the Community
We actively support our local community by donating food to local food banks and participating in our Adopt-A-Road program to help keep our community clean. Through these efforts, we continue strengthening the bond between veterans and the community we proudly serve.

  

Build Strong Partnerships
We proudly support and work alongside organizations like the Elberton-Athens Elks Lodge #1100 and other community partners who share our commitment to veterans and service.
